Announcing the Launch of the VGVN Ambassadors Program

The Video Game Voters Network (VGVN) recently announced a new campus-based initiative called "the VGVN Ambassadors Program."

The Video Game Voters Network is a grassroots coalition, of voting-aged computer and video game players, whose purpose is to educate and mobilize the gamer community in political activities and focus on the positive impact that video games have in our society.

The new program aims to engage students at colleges and universities around the United States and empower them to get involved in important civic and political issues surrounding the entertainment software industry.

According to the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), the U.S. association dedicated to serving the business and public affairs needs of companies publishing interactive games for video game consoles, handheld devices, personal computers, and the Internet, "the entertainment sector is one of the above-average growth segments of the global entertainment industries through 2011."

Today, more than 300 U.S. colleges and universities offer video game courses and degrees.  More and more students are taking part in the educational benefits video games are presenting for their future because video games are proving to be a lucrative and competitive career path for young graduates.

Now more than ever, a strong community of young people seeking to get involved in the entertainment software industry is needed to engage in the civic and political dialogue. The VGVN Ambassadors Program will help build that network.

The VGVN Ambassadors Program is seeking student leaders who will be the driving force of the program by recruiting and managing their local VGVN group. Ambassadors will develop great leadership skills and gain valuable volunteer and civic engagement experience. They will host events and forums, gather signups and manage social media.

The local college groups will provide a great place for students looking at careers in the burgeoning video game industry and be a way to gather periodically with fellow computer and video game lovers and have fun!
